One of our favorite books to read when Bee was little was “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” wherein a family out on an adventure keeps coming up against interesting obstacles. Each obstacle invites the same refrain:
“We can't go over it.
We can't go under it.
Oh no!
We've got to go through it!”
and I’ve been thinking about it a lot recently. My brain is having a listless phase and it’s showing in my work in a way that’s both predictable and frustrating. I know when this happens that the only way out is through it. I also know going “through it” is the last thing I will want to do which means I keep putting off drawing in my diary even though I know it helps.
Here, then, are a few recent diary pages I have drawn as I attempt to go “through it” so I can continue my adventuring. Of course Chaucer managed to sneak in there…
What adventures and obstacles are you experiencing these days?
Ach, anxious and listless. I know that feeling. "I don't want to do anything but I have to do something." Which leads to an hour gone to the NYT games app.
